Link to full printable document available at the bottom of this post. Students are seated in rows and prompts are distributed. For example, I had four students in each row and four different prompts printed and ready to hand out. The bottom line is — students should become VERY familiar with the first prompt they are given. If they have immediate ideas for evidence that can be used to support their thesis, I encourage them to jot those ideas down below to help out the next guy, but they are only responsible for the thesis. Round Two 5 minutes — Students pass their prompt to the person behind them so that everyone gets a NEW prompt for this round. Round Four 5 minutes — Students pass their prompt to the person behind them so that everyone gets another new prompt for this round this is 4 and REPEAT.

Sep 9th, Posts: It’s called ‘Speed Dating‘ and is basically exactly what it says on the tin. It lasted about 40 minutes with me, and that will depend on the size of your class, ability, etc. Start off by making sure everyone knows what ‘speed dating‘ means.

Apr 11,  · Another great activity is Speed Dating (the kids giggle). In this activity, students became experts and explained/checked the work of their peers.

Brief Description Tons of fun resources for teaching U. Objectives Students will work cooperatively with peers to learn state names and practice locating them on a U. But this might be the first youve heard for speed state-ing. Over time, they will be able to do this more quickly, and correctly. Want ideas to help students learn the names of the 50 U. See our lesson, Capital Ideas for Teaching State Capitals We doubt that few of your students will qualify for the National Geography Bee, but that is no reason to believe they shouldnt know the names and locations of the 50 U.

Getting to know those names and locations is the purpose of this ongoing activity. This might be a daily activity for a period of time. Once mastered, you might continue to reinforce the skill on a weekly basis. This lesson provides the resources and games you will need to give your students plenty of practice in identifying the names and location of the 50 states. And practice is the key!

Like the multiplication tables and many other skills, repetition is the best way to master the ability to identify all 50 states on a U. Fun repetition is what this ongoing activity is all about. This activity includes a handful of online games that you can use to give students a variety of fun ways to reinforce their state-naming skills.

Younger Man / Older Woman

As I mentioned, there are exceptions — there is a group of guys who prefer older women, and there is a group of women who is uniquely attractive despite being older. But denying that a significant age difference is an issue is like denying that a typical woman wants to be with a guy who is taller. Many younger men appreciate the wisdom, intelligence, reponsibility and maturity an older woman brings to the relationship.

Most younger men in this study, preferred to date years older than their own age. You underestimate how many younger men are tired of the games women their age play.

speed dating in the mfl classroom In a never-ending quest to help my pupils learn their answers to the conversation exam, I have trialled speed dating, whereby half the pupils remain at their desk as questioners, and the other half rotate round the room, answering questions for the duration of a minute, before moving on to their next ‘date’.

Remember, you chose to do this. Be proud of your accomplishments. It is important to note that every online program is different. Some are completely online while others called hybrids require that students come to a physical campus for lectures or test taking. If your schedule permits you to attend campus sessions once in a while then hybrid would be suitable. Universities like NYU operate under synchronous which means students and teachers participate at the same time in a virtual classroom or chat session via the web.

An individual who has the time to attend a virtual session but cannot commute to a college campus would find this a great option. The other learning outlet for online education is asynchronous, which is self-paced allowing students to work independently. If you like not having to attend class on campus or in a virtual classroom then asynchronous would be best for you. Some like Stephanie a 28year old single mother with a small child would benefit from this type of online education.

Sunday, September 11, Significant Figures Speed Dating Activity My physical science students are currently working on determining the correct number of significant figures to use in different situations. The first step is for them to be able to recognize how many significant figures there are in a number. I made posters to hang up in my classroom for them and me! I decided this was the perfect topic to make into a speed dating activity.

You can find the files for my significant figures posters here. To create cards for the speed dating activity, I typed up 20 numbers into a Publisher file.

The end of the year is here! Now, I always vacillate between being terribly sad the year is over and being so excited for a fresh start come August. My first few years teaching, I always scrambled the last few weeks trying to find engaging but still meaningful activities for my students to do those last couple weeks of school. It was always a challenge.

I figure there must be other people in my same boat– searching endlessly for the perfect end of the year activity– so I compiled a huge list of the best end of the year activities I have found and use. I hope you can find an idea or two! For more information on each activity, click the link directly below the picture. It’s a great twist on the typical assignment to have kids write a letter to the incoming class.

I thought about creating a comprehension sheet to go with our yearbook, but then I realized how time intensive that would be and that I wouldn’t be able to use it from year to year. So I created this fictional, 8-page yearbook with a super fun scavenger hunt to go with it. It can be used in printable form as shown or with the task cards that are included. End of the Year Newspaper I can’t find an original source for this idea, but I love it! Here is what the original pinner wrote:
